Ingredients

  • 160 g porridge oats, blitzed
  • 150 ml milk
  • 50 g Glenilen Farm Natural Yoghurt
  • 100 g banana, mashed

Method
 

  • Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan.
  • Line a 9" square baking tin with baking paper.
  • Mix the oats, milk, yoghurt, honey, and a mashed banana.
  • Let them soak for a few minutes to allow the milk to absorb.
  • Press into the bottom of the tin and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.
  • Cool in the dish for a few minutes before removing and cutting.

Baby Porridge with Stewed Apple

Ingredients

Porridge

  • 40 g oats, blitzed
  • 240 ml milk (or breast milk or fortified milk)
  • 50 ml water

Apple Purée

  • 1 Bramley apple
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1/2 tsp honey

Method
 

  • Blitz the porridge oats in a food processor.
  • Add them to a saucepan with the milk and over a medium heat, cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Set aside to cool, and once cooled, adjust with water if too thick.
  • Peel, core, and chop the apple and place it in a saucepan with the water and cook for a few minutes until a puree is reached. You can adjust the sweetness with a drop of honey as needed.
  • Serve the porridge in a dish with the stewed apple on top.

Mini Pizza Bagels

Ingredients

Bagels

  • 120 g plain flour
  • 125 g Glenilen Farm Natural Yoghurt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch salt
  • Cold Water
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • Sesame/poppy seeds (optional)

Topping

  • 8 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 6 slices of pepperoni
  • Grated mozzarella

Method
 

  • To make the bagels, into a bowl add the flour, yoghurt, baking powder and salt.
  • Mix to form a soft dough.
  • You may need to add a drop of water to help bind.
  • Roll these into 4 small rounds and, using your finger, make a hole in the center of each.
  • Preheat your oven to 200C/180C fan.
  • Egg wash the bagels and sprinkle the sesame and poppy seeds over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown all over.
  • Remove and allow to cool.
  • Once cold, cut in half, spread each half with tomato sauce, top with cheese and pepperoni slices and pop back into the oven for 5 minutes.
  • Enjoy warm or cold the next day.

Frozen Yoghurt Bark

This recipe can be whipped up in minutes with minimal wash-up. A handy snack to root out of the freezer at any time. A great way to add fibre to the diet with dried fruit, berries and nuts.

Ingredients

  • 360 g Glenilen Farm Vanilla Kids Live Yogi or Glenilen Farm Vanilla Kefir or Glenilen Farm Natural Yoghurt
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 200 g White Chocolate
  • 100 g Frozen Raspberries
  • 50 g Crushed Pistachios
  • 50 g Flaked Almonds

For the Topping (optional)

  • 25 g Desiccated Coconut
  • 1 Orange, zested

Method
 

  • Line a flat baking tray.
  • Melt the white chocolate in a heat-proof bowl over a pot of boiling water.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes, and stir in the Live Yogi Vanilla in a bowl.
  • Stir in the fruit & nuts.
  • Spread the mixture onto the tray, about 1.5cm thick.
  • Freeze for 4 hours and break into pieces.
  • Store in sandwich bags in the freezer for snack time.

Homemade Frozen Yoghurt Sorbet for Kids

A simple sorbet style frozen yoghurt designed with children in mind. With naturally occurring sugars in the fruit puree, and gut friendly bacteria in the yoghurt. It is both refreshing and healthy.

Ingredients

  • 360 g Glenilen Farm Strawberry Kids Live Yogi or Glenilen Farm Natural Yoghurt with Strawberries
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 1 Ripe Banana
  • 300 g Mixed Frozen Berries
  • 150 ml Orange Juice

Method
 

  • Blitz the berries and banana in a food processor with the orange juice.
  • Combine honey and Strawberry Yoghurt. Add all ingredients together and freeze again.
  • Ensure to cover the frozen yoghurt with a layer of parchment paper to prevent the surface from crystalizing. 
  • Serve with wafers.
  • TIP - Remove from the freezer 30 minutes before consuming to allow it to soften slightly.

Breakfast Banana Splits

A go-to healthy brekkie option, with Live yoghurt, berries and crushed Rice Krispies for some added crunch!

Ingredients

  • 2 Bananas
  • 180 g Glenilen Farm Kids Vanilla Live Yogi or Glenilen Farm Vanilla Kefir
  • 2 Handfuls of roughly crushed Rice Krispies
  • 1 Handful of toasted Coconut and Almonds
  • 1 Handful of Homemade Granola
  • 1 Handful of Fresh Berries

Method
 

  • Peel the bananas, and split them in half down the middle.
  • Pour our Vanilla Kids Live Yogi or our Vanilla Kefir on top.
  • Sprinkle the Granola, crushed Rice Krispies, nuts & fruit on top.
  • TIP - If not consuming immediately, squeeze lemon juice on the banana before decorating to prevent it from turning brown.

Ingredients

For the Biscuits

  • 100 g Wholemeal Flour
  • 1 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 100 g Light Brown Sugar
  • 80 g Glenilen Farm Butter
  • 90 g Glenilen Farm Kids Vanilla Live Yoghurt or Glenilen Farm Vanilla Kefir
  • 100 g Porridge Oats
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • 3 tbsp Milk
  • 2 Handfuls of Flaked Almonds

For the Dip

  • 180 g Glenilen Farm Vanilla Kids Live Yoghurt
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • 80 g Strawberries, pureed
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

Method
 

For the Biscuits

  • Heat oven to 180®C & line baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Sift flour & mix in baking powder, oats and the light brown sugar.
  • Melt the butter, honey and milk in a bowl in the microwave, taking care not to burn.
  • Add to the dry ingredients slowly and combine.
  • Shape mixture into balls around 10cm wide, leaving space between each biscuit.
  • Bake for 10 mins.

For the Dip

  • Combine all ingredients & refrigerate

Granola Bars with a Nutty Yoghurt Topping

Easy to make and ideal for on the go, snack, these bites are great for hungry tummies while out and about!  The almond crunch topping is optional. The delicious nut crunch topping can replaced with a drizzle of the yoghurt topping as another tasty option.

Ingredients

For the Granola Bars

  • 200 g Oats, lightly blitzed in Food Processor
  • 125 g Crushed Rice Krispies
  • 2 tbsp Light Brown Sugar
  • 30 g Finely chopped Almonds
  • 30 g Chopped Walnuts
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Salt
  • 80 ml Vegetable Oil
  • 110 g Honey
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 150 g Raisins

Nut Crunch Topping (optional)

  • 130 g Almond Flakes
  • 80 g Glenilen Farm Butter
  • 150 g Light Brown Sugar

Yoghurt Icing

  • 1 tsp Water
  • 90 g Glenilen Farm Vanilla Kids Live Yoghurt or Glenilen Farm Vanilla Kefir
  • 110 g Icing Sugar

Method
 

For the Granola Bars

  • Line an 9 inch tin with parchment paper.
  • Combine the oats, brown sugar, and nuts in a bowl.
  • Add the honey, oil and vanilla extract to the dry mixture.
  • Pour the mixture into the baking tin, using the back of the spoon to flatten it.
  • Layer the nut crunch topping over the granola bar mix (optional).
  • Bake for 30 minutes at 165°C.
  • Remove the parchment from tray and allow to cool fully on a wire rack.
  • When cool drizzle the yoghurt icing over the granola tray bake before cutting.
  • Cut into 12 bars or 24 large bite size pieces (about 2 inches thick).

For the Nut Crunch Topping (optional)

  • Melt the butter and sugar in a pan on a low heat.
  • Once the sugar is completely melted, add the almonds.
  • Place on top of the granola bars before baking them.

For the Yoghurt Icing

  • Sift the icing sugar into a bowl and add the yoghurt and water.
  • TIP - Refrigerate the Granola bars for up to 2 weeks in an airtight container.

Ingredients

  • 225 g Self-Raising Flour
  • 170 g Caster Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
  • 120 ml Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 1 Ripe (Almost Blackened) Banana
  • 180 g Glenilen Farm Banana Live Yogi or Glenilen Farm Natural Yoghurt
  • 120 g Fresh Raspberries
  • Handful of Dark Chocolate Chips (65%) - Optional

Method
 

  • Pre-heat oven to 180C.
  • Sift the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder into a bowl.
  • Combine the yoghurt, eggs, oil and mashed banana.
  • Add the wet ingredients slowly to the dry and mix until smooth.
  • Stir in the raspberries and chocolate chips.
  • Pour into muffin cases and bake at 180C for 20-25 minutes.

Easy Pancakes for Kids

Val has perfected this recipe on the farm with yoghurt giving them a light texture. They are the perfect lazy Sunday treat for the family. Keep them simple with a dollop of vanilla yoghurt and fresh fruit. Can be served in a school lunch box.

Ingredients

  • 120 g Plain Flour
  • 110 g Caster Sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1/2 tbsp Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 1 tbsp Butter, melted and cooled
  • 200 ml milk
  • 1 Apple, stewed
  • 180 g Glenilen Farm Vanilla Kids Live Yogi or Glenilen Farm Vanilla Kefir or Glenilen Farm Natural Yoghurt

Method
 

  • Sieve all the dry ingredients into a bowl.
  • Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and add the egg, syrup, milk and melted butter and mix well.
  • Place a spoon of the mixture on a medium heat pan, allow to cook for 1 minute and place teaspoon of the stewed apple in the centre of the cooking drop scone.
  • Carefully cover up the stewed apple with a little more of the drop scone mixture.
  • Serve with a dollop of Vanilla Kids Live Yoghurt or our Natural Yoghurt.
  • TIP - Use a large biscuit cutter on the pan and pour in the mixture to keep the shape of the scones.
